Oh, Subway...

<-- A "Slice" of Roast Beef in relation to a tomato slice.

The contents of my "footlong" -->

To whom it may concern-

I own a business right behind Subway Store #?????, so I frequently have lunch there and whatnot.  Today, I sent my 85 yr old grandfather over to buy my usual lunch and what he came back with did not look like what I had ordered.  I had ordered (per usual) a footlong roastbeef sub with lettuce, tomato, and xtra pickles - no bread (they usually put it in a salad bowl).  I gave him $20 and he brought back a $10 and some change for the "sub", 3 cookies, and a water - so I'm assuming he was charged for the footlong, although, he said the woman mentioned that she had to charge extra because they had to put it in a salad bowl.  This was news to me (as I do this a lot) but either way, the most annoying part of the experience was what was in the bowl.  Yes, there was lettuce, tomato, and extra pickles... but as for the "footlong" amount of roast beef???  There were SIX little, tiny pieces of roast beef.  I'm not kidding when I say tiny.  I mean they were literally about half the size of the palm of my hand - smaller than the size/circumference of a can of soup.  (I took pictures - but cannot attach them here, unfortunately).  If you folded them in half (like you normally do in a sub) they would not cover even HALF of a 6" sub!

So, when my grandfather brought me my 'footlong' sub... I decided to go back to Subway myself to see if perhaps they maybe gave him a 6" and charged him for a footlong or something?  But, alas, when I said why I was there and showed them the 'sub/salad' thing, the woman got very defensive and said that she "portioned it correctly" and that you guys always charge extra for putting it in a bowl.  To which I picked up a piece of the roast beef and asked her if that was considered a "portion".  She said she could recount the portion to see if it was correct - so I gave the bowl to her and she gave me 6 more "slices" of roast beef and made sure I knew that the original portion WAS correct and that this was MORE than what the portion should be.  She also made sure to emphasize that she did INDEED need to charge extra for the bowl.  I asked if there was a manager around - as I was very surprised at not only the contents of my "sub", the extra charges, but now also the way I was being talked to was very rude... Alas, she said she WAS the manager.

So... this is why I'm contacting the main office.  Because clearly, they don't really care how they manage this particular location.  I do a lot of business with this Subway store - and a lot of my customers go there as well.  However, I know I won't be doing so anymore, and I can't imagine they will either, if this is the kind of product and service you're now offering.

I am supremely disappointed and just wanted to let someone know... in case they were interested in keeping this location afloat.  (Because, honestly, with this manager portions, extra charges, and lack of people skills... I can't imagine it'll be around for much longer.)

Food for thought...
